Founded in 1891, Milwaukee Lodge 6 was the sixth chartered Lodge of the International Ship Masters’ Association (ISMA).

Lodge 6 History
“In February 1891, the attention of the [ISMA] organizers was turned toward Milwaukee, where they were met with much enthusiasm, and a charter was granted in response to a petition with thirty-seven names, and rooms were secured on Reed Street. The Milwaukee Lodge has grown strong in numbers as years have passed, and collected, perhaps, the most valuable library in the order. The Lodge was assisted in collecting this library by wealthy and influential citizens, who contributed $600.00 for that purpose, adding $500.00 more for furnishing the lodge rooms. Owners find that it good policy to encourage this order, as a vast amount of good springs from it.
The concept of the association expanded to Milwaukee in 1891 and was met with much enthusiasm the charter was as granted with 37 names.” ~ Taken from ISMA Annual Membership Directory
